Maybelline New York the Rocket Volum' express mascara

I really like Mayelline's mascara, my favourite mascara at the moment has to be the falsies volume express flared. So this mascara retails at £7.99 in the UK but is courently on offer in boots for £5.99 here. They also have a waterproof version for the same price but i just got the normal.

The speel with the mascara says:

'Clump free volume gets reinvented with our exclusive elastomer brush -the Jet-Glide. Lashes have up to 8 x more volume. The patented Jet-Glide Brush propels smooth volume evenly all the way up every lash in a flash for explosive volume.'

Now im not sure volume is the way to describe this mascara, length yes but it really lacks on volume. I put two cotes on my lashes and the colour was good and the length was good but my lashes looked thin. i would describe this more as a lengthening to natural look mascara.

However i do really like this! It looks really nice with a simple light smokey eye for a bit more of a natural look. And the brush is really nice, it gets every single lash and spreads them out perfectly. The product itself is really nice, it is very black and pigmented and has a nice gell like constancy and is not too watery

(In these photographs i am wearing no other makeup or eyelash primer and have only used eyelash curlers on my lashes first.)

Makeup and cosmetics collection complete organisation!

Now as my collection has grown so dramatically in the last 6 months my makeup was desperate need of some proper storage and organisation!

History of my makeup collection:
Now it wasn't until the last year that i really got into makeup and started to wear it every day. As well as this as i now have more money i am able to get more makeup that i was perviously. In the beginning my makeup collection lived in just a small makeup bag that i believe i got from Primark or something. I then increased this to two makeup bags as they were getting full.

Following this i got a wire cutlery tray which fitted all my makeup in well, well until that got too full. I then progressed to some little tiny draws that i got from poundland. Now i found that these worked really well, they were just the right size for makeup but didn't fit a lot in them if you had say more than a few blushes you would have to put them in more than one draw, which annoyed me.

Ok so finaly to now: I took these little draws out of the holders and placed them into my desk draw, now this worked really well because my desk is an old school desk it has a thin draw underneath it. But i did find this looked a bit messy. So here comes my DIY skills (with no help from my brother honest...)
I painted the inside of the draw a with a test paint pot from homebase and then brought MDF and made these deviders with slats of wood that had cut outs in them so that they would slide into one another. This ment i was able to design the different compartments exactly how i wanted them and it gave me much more space!

I also decided that i needed to find somewhere better to put my nail varnish rather than in a plastic box so i went to Wilkinsons and got this glass bathroom shelf for £8.

I then organised the top of my desk a bit, most of the items on my desk such as the tins, old books, mirror and brush holders are vintage/antiques.

And finished off with a sort of my cosmetics draw, the dividers in this were from B&M and are just like plastic boxes that you put together.

Yay clean and tidy! You have any questions about anything i have mentioned in this post or any others then please email me at rutterland@gmail.com or comment bellow!

Make up haul

Now i have been a little naughty at the moment and shopping a lot! So i thought i would show you a few of the make up products that i have brought recently. (Disclaimer: im not showing off, i just like looking at hauls and i thought that people would like to see what i got)

1) Vivo baked shimmer palette - £3 (on sale) Tesco

I saw this palette while shopping in Tesco. This was on sale, i think the original price was £6 and has 4 eye shadows and 1 blush. Im gonna admit that i was drawn to this as it looked like little planets.

2) Bourjois Deluxe de pounder bronzing powder £6.99

I know that this product has been around for aaagggeeessss and was quite famous when it first came out cos it smelt like chocolate but i was yet to try it. I got the lighter shade 51 i think, and i really like it i needed a lighter matte bronzer for contouring during the winter as i find my sleek contouring kit a little dark at the moment.

3) Collection 2000 Primed and ready £3.99

I know that this is a new product to collection 2000 along with a setting spray (i didn't get this as i just got fix +)  i am yet to try this too see how it works but this is the first true primer that i have (i usually use the Nivea two in one one) so i will look forward to seeing if this is good.

4) Maybelline colour tattoo 24hr  in permanent taupe and on and on bronze

Everyone in the youtube world goes on about this so i finally tried it. And i must admit that i do love this! They feel really nice on my eyes and does last a long time.

5) Mua lipliners £1 each Brooding plum and red drama

I just picked these up cos i needed some more lip liners, not much elce to say.

6) Mac fix+ £13.50

I have wanted this for ages and everyone goes on about it and well it is a big bottle so was worth it really. And it really does help my make up stay on longer and i have also been using at to water down gell eye liner

7) Collection 2000 pressed powder 01 candelight

This is my everyday pressed powder and my other one was running out so just picked up a second too be a back up.

8) Maybelline rocket volume express £5.99

I saw this on the advert and i really like the maybelliene mascaras (particularly the faulsies flared) and thought i would give this one a try.

9) Natural collection lip gloss £1.99 sherbet fizz

I never really used too wear lipgloss i thought it felt funny but recently have got into it so picked this up just to put on on the go.

10) Revlon colour burst in 016 (cant remember how much it was)

I picked this up as i have heard that revlon is good for lip gloss so i just picked this up. it is really nice.

Late new year resolution - Big product use up of 2013

This new year I didn't make much thought to new year resolution until everyone was going on about how they had failed.

This got me thinking about what my new year resolution should be... And I have decided!

Now I don't have as much as some people I have seen but I have a lot of makeup. I mean I use a lot of it every day but I have a lot of red lipsticks and different products that I barely use.

So I am going to have a big product use up of 2013. I shall aim to dig out and use up a lot of products that I have not used for a while or only used once or twice.

I shall keep you reported as I go along and see what I can use up :)

Elf products review

So about a week ago i was really exited to receive a package that i had ordered of Elf UK's website. I really had my hopes up for the Elf cosmetics as many people had said such good things about them.

To see my elf haul click here!

Now when i first opened my box one of the eye shadows had smashed which sucked a lot. But having tried out these shadows out i can see why it broke, they are just so powdery. As soon as i started putting it on my eyes half of the powder ended up on my cheeks. I had flicked off my brush and was wearing eye primer. Now the shadows were only £1 but i am disappointed  I a just going to through the pans in the bin and put some other singles i have in the palette.

The other product that i was disappointed with was the Corrective concealer in Neutralise and Conceal. I was exited to try one of these green and red concealer and as it was quite cheep i thought it was worth it. But this product was so hard i couldn't get it out of the tub! I tried using a brush but none of it went onto the brush so i tried with my finger and had to really dig my finger into the product to get it out.

However when i do manage to get some out of the tub it does work well i use the green under my eyes before putting on my normal concealer.

Now its not all doom and gloom!

The studio lip colour in Tea rose is AMAZING!!! I have used this every day since i got it, it is a great colour and the way it feels on my lips is lovely! I really recommend this! (Ok do i wana use !!! any more in that sentence)

I am yet to try the all over sticks and facial whip but as soon as i do i shall tell you how it is.

Favourite nail varnishes for winter? METALLIC'S

Like this winter only one thing has been blessing my nails and thats metallic nail varnish! I love the stuff! It just brightens up your nails on dreary days and also distracts from any dry skin you may have. So, in no particular order, here are my top 7 favourites.

1) Rimmel London Lasting finish pro - 280 Pure silver

Now this is my newest nail varnish to my collection and i actually picked this up from the pound shop in the cosmetics section so it is no longer available in shops. However you can get it off amazon in the UK here. Im sad that they dont have these in stores anymore as it is a great nail varnish! It has a really wide flat brush which is great and is so opake in two cotes. Its just a perfect silver colour. 9/10

2) No. 7's Stay perfect Pigment rich colour - 370 Disco nights

I got this when Boots were giving away those £5 off No7 vouchers as usually they are like £7 or something and i dont like paying over £5 for a nail varnish! But i really think that these are really good nail varnishes. this is a silver with a slight dark blue tone to it. 7/10

3) 17 Halo Nail polish - Silver

This has to be one of my favourite nail varnish of all time! It is a holographic polish and just amazing. especially for the price at only £3.99. I just wish this had one of the fat wide brushes but its still easy to apply. 9.5/10

4) Nail paint by Barry M - 324 Silvery lilac

This is a 'Oil slick' nail varnish but with an added bit of shine through minute bits of glitter. its a purply green colour. Really nice polish as always from Barry M and affordable too. 7/10

5) Collection 2000 Hot looks 60 seconds - All that jazz

I really like collection 2000 nail varnish and at only £1.99 for this line their great. 8/10

6) Miss sporty metal fluid - (no colour name)

This is another 'oil slick' colour. this one is a bit darker tho with a more red and gold shine to it. 8/10

7) MNY Maybelline New York - Gemey paris

(Sorry i smudged the sample, thats me trying to do too many things at once)
This is my favourite rose gold nail varnish. The colour is so pigmented and goes on so well i really like it! The only downside to this varnish is that the brush is really small! 9/10

Have a good snow day! (If you have any)

ELF HAUL! - first impressions and review

Sorry but this post is picture heavy! And long, but stick with it it will be worth it in the end =]

I have spent months cruising the ELF Uk website trying to decide what i wanted to buy, i didn't know wether to try the cheeper items or the elf studio products. Well in the end i went for products that i had never used before, i wanted to try something new!

I brought all of these items in their 25% of deal so i saved around £4. they dont have this offer on anymore but they do have 50% of sale items as well as a free shipping weekend this weekend. (elfs offers page)

Now first off delivery - it did take about 4 days from when i ordered my items for them to be dispatched and then another 2 days to arrive. It did say on the website that it would take between 2-7 days (which i thought was a bit of a funny time scale) but anyway, it didn't take too long but i would have liked it to be quicker.

When i first opened the box this is the view that greeted me. I was a little disappointed  Everything was covered in what looked like dust, i thought that they must have been kept in a dirty factory which concerned me to be honest.

The first item i got out was the elf studio stipple brush, this brush was £3.75.

Right i got this brush to use with cream blush and highlighter. I love my mac 187 so much but i use this for my foundation and is too expensive to buy just for cream blushes.

This brush is so soft! it feels lovely the only thing is is that it is not as dense as my mac brush or as i would like it to be, when using it this morning i had to hold the bace of the bristles to make it stiffer.  however this is a great brush and i really do like it! and it is so good for the price too!

Next i decided to try one of the custom compacts as it was in the sale section i chose 4 eye shadows (i thought the blushes would be a bit small if they were the same as eye shadows and lip products in pans just dont float my boat!) anyway the shadows were £1 each and the palette to put them in were also £1.

It was at this point that i discovered what all of the black dust was!!! i was so annoyed but the black eyeshadow called 'dusk' had completely shattered! It had just turned into powder. I tried to clear the loose powder off but it was a goner. this went in the bin. Not great elf. Anyway i wasn't too bothered cos it was only a black and i wouldn't have used it much anyway. But the other colours i loved!! A navy blue called Navy, a slightly gold sandy brown called driftwood and a dark redy brown called Aubergine.

Next is the eyelid primer in pearl. this was £1.50.
Fist impressions on this product are not good, first off it smells really bad! well in the tube it does but once i swatched it on my hand and it dried it was fine. Secondly this is a little lumpy, their are bits of lumps in it. It also has a shimmer to it, now this isn't really a bad thing but i dont know, i think i will have to give this product a good try before i tell you what i truly think.

Next i got 2 all over cover sticks, one in spotlight and one in persimmon. as well as a shimmering facial whip in lilac petal.

Each of these products were £1.50 each and i had never tried anything like them before. All of them say that they can be used on the eyes cheeks or lips. Im not quite sure i would use them on my eyes tho, or maybe not even my lips.

I am going to do a full post about these so come back for that!

This next product is the studio matte lip colour in tea rose and was £3.70.

Ok so while i was watching a elf haul on youtube (sorry i cant remember who it was by) i saw that they got this and was wearing it during the video and i fell in love. And not i have it i am not disappointed  its amazing, the colour and feel is so nice! Its so moisturising on your lips and lasts ages!  Out of all that i got this is my favourite product by far! I really recommend it! I will defiantly be getting it in more colours.

The final product i got was the Corrective concealer in Neutralise and conceal.

I have never tried one of these corrective concealers before. Now at first look i think that the beige consealers are too dark for my skin but it is the two middle consealers which were what i wanted to try. The green is to reduce redness and the pink is to get rid of yellow tones.

I have never used a product like this before and i am yet to use this so i will get back to you if it is good!

Anyway that is all i got from elf, overall i am pleased with what i got but a little disappointed by the eye shadow! oh well, you can email me at rutterland@gmail.com or comment down below!

Makeup and hair of the day - 40's girl

Today a combination of a fringe that needs cutting and me not been bothered to wash my hair and just putting a bit of dry shampoo on it developed into a quiff and my hair in a ballet bun, i then added this bandanna that my boyfriend had when he was 7 and bam! we had a 40's look. I thought that this then deserved a nice winged eye liner and bright red lips along with a healthy lashing of blush and we were their!

On my eyes i'm using the Max factor liquid eyeliner that i have shown in my every day makeup. I also added a tiny dash of blue eye shadow from my Sleek matte's pallet and a nude shadow to finish it off. I added some white high-lights in the inner corner of my eye, along the bottom of my eye liner wing and under my eye brows.

For my cheeks i used my Sleek contorting kit, then MUA's blush in shade 4, followed by my Mac mineralise skin finish in soft and genital as a high lighter along the tops of my cheeks and the bridge of my noes.

For lips i used my Mac lip pencil in Redd and my Mac lipstick in Viva glam.

Perfume - Beyonce Midnight Heat

I never bother with perfume, I mean I use deodorant and body butter which makes me not smell bad but I never have a strong sent. I own a few perfumes that I have been given over the years and the only one I used is the Versace red jeans, and that was rare.

Anyway as I was cruising Superdrugs sale perfumes and sniffed this and I actually liked it! And at only £11.99 I thought I may as well buy it, even if i don't use it that often I'm not really loosing much.

I don't know much about perfume but it is an eau de parfum and I got a 30ml bottle.

Anyway I really recommend it, it's got a nice sweet warm sent and well, I like it.

For my first perfume purchase I'm happy :)

Just a little haul - hair stuff and makeup

Wow, i know 2 posts in one day! (I cant see this lasting long) See my outfit of the day here!

Me + hair care - ok so i never bother doing anything with my hair, i dye it, put shampoo on it and then tie it up. I dont even bother conditioning it. But as i am growing my hair out now and its starting to get past the shoulder length i thought it was time to do something with it. So i thought i would just start with some shampoo, conditioner and root boost as my hair was looking a little flat. (Ok im gonna admit that i used to just use the Tesco own brand shampoo).

I got the VO5 give me moisture shampoo and conditioner, I liked the look of these and smell, and were only 99p a bottle at Body care.

I then went to Superdrug and got the Pantene volume booster spray, this spray was less than £2 and the instructions say to spray it on damp hair before drying.

I shall give these both a go and report back to how it does. I also think i may invest in a bottle of heat protecter.

It seems that everyone goes on about topshop make-up at some point or another but i have never got any cos i think its a little over priced for been a clothing store make up range even if it is top shop.
How ever when shopping the other day i came across this blush duo in the sale. I am lead to believe that it is from the Louise Gray collection (hence why it was on sale) And is called 'up in the air' and was originally £6 but i got it for £3. Their was also an eye shadow quad on sale but the colours did not appeal to me.

Before talking about the product can we please take a minuet to look at its packaging! oh i just love the colour and design, its right up my street!

Anyway, it comes with a very very orange tone and a pink but swatching them on my hand they are not too bright and blend nicely.

Now these are a cream blush and i have never used a cream blush before, only powder so i am a little unsure about the application of this and i may have to experiment with this an invest in a second stippling brush as i think these would clog my powder blush brush.

I have to express my love for pound and discount shops right now. I love a bargain and often you can find some really good things!
The first section i check in pound shops is the make up
section, this is usually a wall with a load of little bags, purple i think. I often find different well known brands in this, Nivea, Rimel and Sally Handson to name a few but this time i found Sleek! I love Sleek cosmetics (especially their eye shadows can be seen in my december favourites) so finding lipsticks is a real bonus!
The pink tube is sheer cover lipstick in Calico.
The black tube is intense pigments true colour in Majestic which is a purple colour which is great cos was actually looking for a purple lipstick.

If you have any questions about this post or any items in it or would like to request a post or video for me to do then email me at rutterland@gmail.com

What i take away with me/Products i use every day!

Ok so this post is what is known as a double wammy! I was going to do a what i take away with me as i am currently at my boyfriends and i thought that would be fun, but then i suppose that the products i have taken away with me are my staples so here we go two in one!

So lets start with primer, makeup remover ect.

First off i bring Boots own brand basic cleansing wipes, i dont actually use these to remove my makeup but i will use one as i apply my makeup to remove any mistakes, eye liner going hay wire ect.

Then dedorant - Dove gofresh 48h in pomegranate & lemon verbena scent, i do like the smell of this!

Simple kind to eyes soothing eye balm.  I use this product morning and night, very good for tired eyes.

To take off my make up i use Simple kind to skin purifying cleansing lotion and Simple kind to eyes eye makeup remover.

Before applying my makeup i use Nivea Daily essentials Express hydration primer. I also take this small Body shop body butter to put on any dry spots.

Next: Foundation and face products

For concealer i use both Soap & Glory Trick and Treatment in Bright on and Soap & Glory Kick ass concealer in Light/Clair. I am in the market for a good concealer, these are good but i have such dark circles that these just are not enough, even together!

Foundation! I use Mac Pro Longwear SPF 10 foundation in NC15. I love this foundation, this is the second bottle of the stuff i have had and will not change!

And then the pressed powder goes on, i just use the collection 2000 pressed powder in 1 candelight this is such a cheep pressed powder (around £3) and available everywhere and it does the job it is ment to do and lasts all day.

For contouring i use the Sleek face contour kit in light. I use the the bronzer from this every day, it has no shimmer and is the perfect shade and i now use Mac Mineralize skin finish in soft and gentle as my highlighter, i like the bit of shimmer it gives my cheeks.

And cheeks! I carry two of my MUA blushers in shade 2 and 4.

For my eyes i use:

To start i use the Maybelline Dream smooth primer Base Alisadora.

For eyeliner i use MaxFactor colour x-pert Waterproof eyeliner in 01 deep black, Rimmel London Soft Kohl Eyeliner pencil in 061 jet black and the MUA Instense colour eye liner pencil in rich brown.

For eye shadow i carry a natural collection single eye shadow in Heather. Then the Sleek i-Divine Ultra matts V2 palette. And my new MUA The artiste collection which i got in my MUA haul here. And the two Mascara's that i am using are Maybelline the falsies volume express flared and Mac Opulash.

For my brows i use an MUA Eyebrow pencil in Blonde (I have brown eyebrows but this is the best shade for me) and Miss sporty Just clear mascara which i use for brow gell.

And finally for my lips:

I am addicted to lip balm, here are two of the sweet lip balms and the little red tin from superdrug

Lipsticks from left to right:
- Mac matte Viva Glam
- Avon Chilli
- Mac matte Ruby Woo
- Rimmel London, Kate collection in 107
- The last lipstick is a fake Mac lipstick that i was conned into off Ebay in Sheer Plum, even tho its fake i really like this!

Two Maxfactor Lipfinity lasting lip tint in 03 & 06. And Two lip pencils: Natural collection lip liner in 2hqq (I think, this is the only number i could find on it) and then Mac lip pencil in Redd.

I also carry Brushes, cotton wool pads and a face cloth for dabbing off excess ect.

Few! That was a long one. If you want any more details on any of these products or want me to do anything elce then you can email me on rutterland@gmail.com or comment below.
