MUA Eyebrow pencils

Ok, so im gonna admit something... I hate eyebrows! I think their a weird bit of hair floating on your face and are just silly if you think about it! However... I would look like some weird alean without them so I shall not go shaving them off. I dont like threading my eyebrows and will occasionally pluck them, if they are looking particularly bad.

In order to controle the beast i invested in the MUA eyebrow pencil at a WOPPING £1! I know what you thinking woo Rutter you braking the bank their! Anyway i have it in two shades in Blond and Brunette. (I do think these are the only two colours available)

Now i started off using the Brunette pencil as i have naturally dark brown hair but my eyebrows stuck out like a saw thumb under my pink hair. So tried the Blond one instead which is more an ash blond shade.

When applying these you only need a very light swipe across the brows as if you do it too hard then it like clumps like a gell. After i have put across my brows i use the litte brush on the end to like spread it out and look a bit more natural and stop any hard lines then use Miss sporty clear mascara as brow gell.

Now i must say i dont think this product lasts allll day, it lasts a good 6 hours but after that it needs re-applying.

Final thoughts - well this is great! easy to apply, and perfect for a brow novis and hater! The only thing is that you have to sharpen it about every other time you use it, but i dont mind if it runs out cos i will just buy another :]

Price - 10/10 yet another good product for just £1
Packaging - 8/10 good, works well and i like the brush on the end.
Product - 8/10 good product, does the job but can go clumpy if you use too much and doesn't last a long day.
Colour - 6/10 again as any of the cheeper makeup brands the colour range isnt great but eyebrows dont differer that much.
Smell - N/A - its a pencil.

NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Face powder

The NYC Smooth skin pressed face powder has just replaced the collection 2000 pressed powder which i used to use every day.

I am i big connoisseur of the cheep face powders as they are not much different to high end brands or even higher up drug store brands such as Rimmel or Loreal. And think that pressed powder is very good to set foundation and give you a nice flawless look.

I brought this product from Superdrug for £1.99. I do believe that it is on offer at the moment and is usually around £3.

Ok lets review this sucker! I chose the shade 702A Naturally Beige as it was the lightest and not translucent powder (which is also available). Now this shade suits me well as i am pale but the colour range that was available was not great. This is the only problem with cheep face powders that the colour range is not good. So if you have dark skin or skin with different tones such as olive or redness then i dont think this powder would be great for you. Sucky cheep brands and their colour range! But you could try the translucent powder.

Anyway when i first opened this product it came with a little puff (which went in the bin, i use a brush) and a mirror in the top. which is nice for touch up during the day if you have oily skin to help controle that. The packaging feels good and not too cheep but i am worried if you were to keep this product in your bag then the hinge would brake as its only a little bit of plastic.

Theirs an imposing of NYC in the powder  which really makes it look posher than it is!

The powder has a light smell that smells like a moisturiser smell. The powder is very smooth and very pigmented and could be worn alone if you just want to mattify your face without wearing foundation.

Price - 10/10 great value for money!
Packaging - 6/10 looks nice but im worried about it braking.
Product - 8/10 great powder and great for every day use.
Colour - 7/10 it matches me perfectly but not a great range for other skin colours.
Smell - 8/10 smells fine, not a strong scent and cant smell it on your face.

Maybelline New York the Rocket Volum' express mascara

I really like Mayelline's mascara, my favourite mascara at the moment has to be the falsies volume express flared. So this mascara retails at £7.99 in the UK but is courently on offer in boots for £5.99 here. They also have a waterproof version for the same price but i just got the normal.

The speel with the mascara says:

'Clump free volume gets reinvented with our exclusive elastomer brush -the Jet-Glide. Lashes have up to 8 x more volume. The patented Jet-Glide Brush propels smooth volume evenly all the way up every lash in a flash for explosive volume.'

Now im not sure volume is the way to describe this mascara, length yes but it really lacks on volume. I put two cotes on my lashes and the colour was good and the length was good but my lashes looked thin. i would describe this more as a lengthening to natural look mascara.

However i do really like this! It looks really nice with a simple light smokey eye for a bit more of a natural look. And the brush is really nice, it gets every single lash and spreads them out perfectly. The product itself is really nice, it is very black and pigmented and has a nice gell like constancy and is not too watery

(In these photographs i am wearing no other makeup or eyelash primer and have only used eyelash curlers on my lashes first.)

Makeup and cosmetics collection complete organisation!

Now as my collection has grown so dramatically in the last 6 months my makeup was desperate need of some proper storage and organisation!

History of my makeup collection:
Now it wasn't until the last year that i really got into makeup and started to wear it every day. As well as this as i now have more money i am able to get more makeup that i was perviously. In the beginning my makeup collection lived in just a small makeup bag that i believe i got from Primark or something. I then increased this to two makeup bags as they were getting full.

Following this i got a wire cutlery tray which fitted all my makeup in well, well until that got too full. I then progressed to some little tiny draws that i got from poundland. Now i found that these worked really well, they were just the right size for makeup but didn't fit a lot in them if you had say more than a few blushes you would have to put them in more than one draw, which annoyed me.

Ok so finaly to now: I took these little draws out of the holders and placed them into my desk draw, now this worked really well because my desk is an old school desk it has a thin draw underneath it. But i did find this looked a bit messy. So here comes my DIY skills (with no help from my brother honest...)
I painted the inside of the draw a with a test paint pot from homebase and then brought MDF and made these deviders with slats of wood that had cut outs in them so that they would slide into one another. This ment i was able to design the different compartments exactly how i wanted them and it gave me much more space!

I also decided that i needed to find somewhere better to put my nail varnish rather than in a plastic box so i went to Wilkinsons and got this glass bathroom shelf for £8.

I then organised the top of my desk a bit, most of the items on my desk such as the tins, old books, mirror and brush holders are vintage/antiques.

And finished off with a sort of my cosmetics draw, the dividers in this were from B&M and are just like plastic boxes that you put together.

Yay clean and tidy! You have any questions about anything i have mentioned in this post or any others then please email me at rutterland@gmail.com or comment bellow!

Now i have been a little naughty at the moment and shopping a lot! So i thought i would show you a few of the make up products that i have brought recently. (Disclaimer: im not showing off, i just like looking at hauls and i thought that people would like to see what i got)

I know that this product has been around for aaagggeeessss and was quite famous when it first came out cos it smelt like chocolate but i was yet to try it. I got the lighter shade 51 i think, and i really like it i needed a lighter matte bronzer for contouring during the winter as i find my sleek contouring kit a little dark at the moment.

I know that this is a new product to collection 2000 along with a setting spray (i didn't get this as i just got fix +)  i am yet to try this too see how it works but this is the first true primer that i have (i usually use the Nivea two in one one) so i will look forward to seeing if this is good.

This is my everyday pressed powder and my other one was running out so just picked up a second too be a back up.

Late new year resolution - Big product use up of 2013

This new year I didn't make much thought to new year resolution until everyone was going on about how they had failed.

This got me thinking about what my new year resolution should be... And I have decided!

Now I don't have as much as some people I have seen but I have a lot of makeup. I mean I use a lot of it every day but I have a lot of red lipsticks and different products that I barely use.

So I am going to have a big product use up of 2013. I shall aim to dig out and use up a lot of products that I have not used for a while or only used once or twice.

I shall keep you reported as I go along and see what I can use up :)

Elf products review

So about a week ago i was really exited to receive a package that i had ordered of Elf UK's website. I really had my hopes up for the Elf cosmetics as many people had said such good things about them.

To see my elf haul click here!

Now when i first opened my box one of the eye shadows had smashed which sucked a lot. But having tried out these shadows out i can see why it broke, they are just so powdery. As soon as i started putting it on my eyes half of the powder ended up on my cheeks. I had flicked off my brush and was wearing eye primer. Now the shadows were only £1 but i am disappointed  I a just going to through the pans in the bin and put some other singles i have in the palette.

The other product that i was disappointed with was the Corrective concealer in Neutralise and Conceal. I was exited to try one of these green and red concealer and as it was quite cheep i thought it was worth it. But this product was so hard i couldn't get it out of the tub! I tried using a brush but none of it went onto the brush so i tried with my finger and had to really dig my finger into the product to get it out.

However when i do manage to get some out of the tub it does work well i use the green under my eyes before putting on my normal concealer.

Now its not all doom and gloom!

The studio lip colour in Tea rose is AMAZING!!! I have used this every day since i got it, it is a great colour and the way it feels on my lips is lovely! I really recommend this! (Ok do i wana use !!! any more in that sentence)

I am yet to try the all over sticks and facial whip but as soon as i do i shall tell you how it is.
